While working on the writing as making project I discovered new and inventive tools to make projects such as petcha kutcha and green screens for special effects. I was planning to scaffold the students when using the petcha ketchas along with the green screen and show them how it is used and to also show them dependence on themselves and on their partner.

I definitely tinkered with making the petcha kutcha’s with google slides with adding GIPHY images and adding audio. In my lesson plan I was planning on giving the students time to play with google slides adding images, transitioning slides, effects, and adding audio and helping them if they get stuck with anything or to ask their partner for collaborative support.
I had to ask for collaborative support when I was working on my audio and adding GIPHs to my section of the project in which my group helped me out with getting the audio on my slides and adding the GIPHs to my slides. I was planning on scaffolding the students with I do, We do, You do with the students. Also showing the students the “how to” videos if they are having trouble with any of the technology.

This project resulted in quite a bit of failure on my part and also some other people in class. The thing that I failed the most was the audio part of the the project. It was hard trying to find a recording device that would be easy to import into the google slides. I finally found one on a website that turned the audio recording into my iTunes and I was able to transfer it from there. But not after multiple re-recordings because my voice was sometimes too low or too high, there sometimes too much background noise, and of course mumbling and delaying by saying “ummm”. This was a struggle because it was frustrating to mess up and restart all over again especially if you are following a script and the words do not sound right.
This has been a different writing experience for me because it is something that will benefit me later in my career and something that I will keep up with for my future students and their parents. The writing process has been similar in a way though because I used to have a blog for my work in my photojournalism class in high school. This project was different because everything was completely online so it was different for me but very eyeopening because of how much technology is used in the classroom.
This whole creative making process has been very good and very eye opening to me because it showed me the process of creativity and the dependence on not only myself but my group mates. I really enjoyed being with my group especially when we had our on campus online session when Dr. J was out for the day. We really got to know one another and got share something about us personally. That was a unique moment while making this project.
“A good presentation is the result of good deal writing that never shows up on the slides but becomes part of the words spoken by the writer” (Hicks, 2013, p. 67). All of these blogs that we have created were documentation of how our creative process was coming along and these blogs as Hicks says are the words that did not show up on the slides and that what makes these blogs so special.
